Michael Appleton was born into a family involved in education. His father was a high school science teacher who became a University Lecturer in Science Education, author and international speaker. His mother worked in the University Library and became the Chief Librarian over numerous campuses.

While studying computing at University, Michael married Debbie who was studying education at the time. Now they have eight children. Debbie taught the children at home for seven years, is now a chaplain at the College and completing a Certificate III in Personal Training.

After University, Michael entered on-the-job training for the ministry under John Alley at Peace Apostolic Community. Central Queensland Christian College was being founded at that time and Michael was involved in various was from the very beginning.

In 2001, Michael was ordained as a Minister of Religion and began to travel more frequently on mission engagements. He has ministered in Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania, Haiti, India, Cambodia, Indonesia, Pakistan and Myanmar.

In December 2005, Michael felt the call of God to the leadership of Central Queensland Christian College. He has been commissioned to train the children for their God-given mission in life. The College remains an integral part of the Peace group of ministries. Michael maintains strong links with Peace and continues to serve on the leadership team there.
