First Aid

POLICY
Central Queensland Christian College aims to provide a safe environment for all students, staff, parents, visitors and volunteers. In the event of an accident or injury occurring College staff will follow set procedures to ensure that appropriate aid and, if required, medical treatment is administered and adequate and appropriate care is given to the person/s involved.

SCOPE
This policy covers all staff, students, parents, visitors and volunteers of the College community while they are on College grounds or involved with College run activities.

PROCEDURE
To achieve our policy and procedures objectives Central Queensland Christian College will support all safety initiatives and will provide the necessary training and resources.

It is our goal to:

Increase safety awareness
Prevent injuries/illness and property damage resulting from workplace accidents
Train Staff in appropriate First Aid Procedure and in dealing with Allergies/Anaphylaxis

Staff
It is the responsibility of staff to:

Ensure that students are supervised during all normal College activities including lunch breaks, excursions and sporting functions
Attend to any child injured during the course of normal College activities
Administer appropriate first-aid or ensure that it is administered if required
Ensure that parents are contacted if necessary
Complete an Incident Report

Staff will not be expected to supervise students in the playground before or after school.

Students
Are expected to:

Follow instructions of staff, parents and volunteers given for their safety and well-being
Report accidents and injuries to staff or responsible adult
Follow College Rules regarding health and safety
