College Discipline

Basketball BoysIn keeping with standards of behaviour required of Christian young people, it is expected that all children will learn to co-operate to achieve a caring community, in which students will find freedom to learn and to express themselves without infringing upon the rights of others.

Our Discipline Policy will be explained to parents in a personal interview at the time of enrolment and parents are asked to sign a Discipline Policy Agreement.

The Six Steps
In providing discipline for children, we endeavour to provide firm boundaries in a loving and caring environment. We seek to discipline children in the same gracious way that God disciplines us - swift and decisive but forgiving and without contempt. We seek to accurately represent our Father in heaven who loves us more than we can imagine, but does not turn a blind eye to wrong-doing and ensures that correction is brought our way.

Step 1.
Explanation and warning given to child about inappropriate behaviour or breaking of the rules.

Step 2.
Time-out or Detention.

Step 3.
Parent/Teacher conference.

Step 4.
Corporal correction following a parent/teacher discussion and teacher discussion with the child explaining reasons for the correction; this will be followed by prayer with the child, bringing them to the point of repentance. Corporal correction consists of 1 stroke to the bottom with a suitable adult witness present.

Step 5.
Suspension.

Step 6.
Expulsion.

* When an offence is more serious in nature, a child may be taken directly to a higher step, as appropriate.
