Staff members, paid and voluntary are expected to:

  1. Embrace College Values:
    • Love God
    • Love others
    • Love yourself
    • Seek wisdom, knowledge and understanding
    • Walk in integrity
    • Accept responsibility
    • Be a leader
  2. Provide a Christ-like example for students to follow.
  3. Abide by the policies and guidelines of the school.
  4. Treat students with respect and accept duty of care for their welfare, safety and health.
  5. Respect everyone’s right to personal privacy.
  6. Use language that is friendly, positive and empowering, not swearing or using language that is demeaning or non-supportive.
  7. Abstain from the use of alcohol and tobacco on school grounds.
  8. Provide physical contact which is appropriate to expressing comfort, encouragement and praise without compromising professional boundaries – never presume a child or young person is comfortable with physical contact.
  9. Not be involved in unaccompanied or unobservable activities with individual young people.
  10. Agree that any sort of harm, defined as “any detrimental effect of a significant nature on the child’s physical, psychological or emotional well-being,” is unacceptable conduct irrespective of how the harm was caused.
  11. Not under any circumstances engage in physical or emotional abuse or engage in sexual contact of any nature with a student of the school. It is irrelevant whether the conduct is consensual or non-consensual, or condoned by parents or caregivers. The age of the student is also irrelevant.
  12. Ensure that their behaviour towards, and relationships with students are not unlawful.
  13. Respond to any issues or disclosures relating to a child or young person promptly and professionally.

Failure to behave in an appropriate manner may result in criminal proceedings and/or disciplinary action, including dismissal.
